Malaysia is one of the most accessible international destinations for Indian travellers — and in 2026 it is also one of the easiest on visas. Indian passport holders can enter Malaysia without a visa for stays of up to 30 days. No application, no fee, no embassy visit. There is one mandatory requirement before travel — the Malaysia Digital Arrival Card — and a set of entry conditions that must be met on arrival. This guide covers everything you need to know. Malaysia Visa — Quick Reference Detail Information Visa required No — visa-free for Indians until 31 December 2026 Stay allowed Up to 30 days per visit Purpose Tourism, business meetings, social visits, transit MDAC Mandatory — complete online maximum 3 days before arrival Passport validity Minimum 6 months Return ticket Required — airlines may deny boarding without it Proof of funds Approximately RM 1,500 (₹28,000) recommended Hotel booking Required After 31 Dec 2026 Status not confirmed — may revert to eVisa or eNTRI Work or study Visa required — visa-free does not apply INFARE Malaysia hotels and attractions at trade rates — Trip Pass → Malaysia is visa-free for Indians in 2026 — what this means The Malaysian government extended visa-free entry for Indian passport holders until 31 December 2026 as part of the Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign. This was confirmed by the Malaysian High Commission in New Delhi and extended in April 2025 through the end of 2026. In practical terms — Indian travellers planning a Malaysia trip of up to 30 days in 2026 do not need to apply for a visa, pay any visa fee or visit an embassy or VFS centre before travel. What you do need — a valid passport, return ticket, hotel booking, proof of sufficient funds and a completed Malaysia Digital Arrival Card before you arrive. Important: Visa-free does not mean automatic entry. Malaysian immigration officers check all entry conditions at the port of arrival. Travellers who cannot demonstrate return tickets, accommodation or sufficient funds can be denied entry regardless of the visa-free policy. This is not common but it does happen. Malaysia Digital Arrival Card — MDAC The Malaysia Digital Arrival Card is mandatory for all foreign visitors to Malaysia — including Indian passport holders entering under the visa-free arrangement. It replaced the old paper arrival card and must be completed online before arrival. How to complete it: The MDAC is completed through the official Malaysian immigration portal — imigresen.com.my. It is free of charge. You will need your passport details, flight information and accommodation details. When to complete it: The MDAC can be completed a maximum of 3 days (72 hours) before your arrival date. It cannot be completed earlier than this window. Complete it within the 72 hour window before your flight — do not leave it until you are at the airport. What happens if you do not complete it: Immigration officers may ask you to complete it at the airport — adding time to your arrival process. Complete it before travel to avoid any delays. Entry requirements — what to carry Visa-free entry does not eliminate the need for supporting documents. Carry the following on arrival: Valid Indian passport — minimum 6 months validity beyond your travel dates Completed MDAC — accessible on your phone or printed Return or onward ticket — proof that you are leaving Malaysia within 30 days. Airlines may deny boarding without a confirmed return ticket. Hotel booking confirmation — for your entire stay or at least the first few nights Proof of sufficient funds — approximately RM 1,500 (₹28,000) in cash, card or a bank statement showing sufficient balance. Immigration may ask for this. How long can Indians stay in Malaysia The visa-free arrangement allows a stay of up to 30 days per visit. The 30-day period starts from the arrival stamp date and cannot be extended within Malaysia. If you need to stay longer than 30 days — apply for an eVisa or eNTRI before travel. Both are available online through the official Malaysian immigration portal. If you want to re-enter Malaysia after your 30 days — exit the country, and you are eligible for a fresh 30-day entry on return. However immigration may question very frequent border crossings. Work and study — visa required The visa-free arrangement is strictly for tourism, social visits, business meetings and transit. Indian nationals entering Malaysia for work or study require a valid visa regardless of the visa-free policy. Apply through the Malaysian High Commission or authorised channels before travel. What happens after 31 December 2026 The current visa-free arrangement for Indians is confirmed until 31 December 2026. What happens after that date has not been officially announced. Two possibilities — Malaysia extends the visa-free arrangement further, or Indians revert to requiring an eNTRI or eVisa before travel.
